• Germany remained the most important country of origin throughout this period. In 2021, there were 24,534 students from Germany registered at a Dutch higher education institution, compared to 13,542 in 2006: an increase of 81%.
  • Romania moved up the most in this period. In 2021, there were 32 times as many degree students from Romania than in 2006, which pushed this country up by 24 places to second place.
  • Indonesia moved down the most in this period. Even though there were 600 more degree students from Indonesia in 2021 than in 2006, this country has fallen from 4th to 19th place.
  • In absolute terms, the number of international degree students from all countries shown in this dashboard has increased in this period.
