Summary
- Germany has remained the most common country of origin for international degree students throughout this period, although numbers have recently declined. There were 22,775 students from Germany registered at a Dutch higher education institution in 2022, 7% fewer than the year before.
- Romania moved up the most in this period. Between 2006 and 2022, Romania grew from 27th to 3rd most common country of origin for international degree students.
- For the first time, Belgium is no longer one of the top 5 countries of origin. In 2022, degree students from Belgium were outnumbered by students from both Spain and Bulgaria.
- In absolute terms, the number of international degree students from all countries shown in this dashboard has increased between 2006 and 2022.
