Cultural Heritage Scholarship Programme

The CHSP is an initiative funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that brings together international talent and Dutch expertise to strengthen the future of cultural heritage. Through this programme, 21 students and young professionals from Indonesia, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Surinam were given the opportunity to pursue a specialised master’s degree in the Netherlands.

The programme focused on key themes including provenance research, the restitution of cultural objects, and the management and presentation of collections. By combining academic study with international exchange, participants develop the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the preservation, accessibility and understanding of cultural heritage in their home countries.

At its core, the programme was about collaboration and mutual learning. It supports a growing global network of heritage professionals and contributes to stronger partnerships between the Netherlands and countries of origin. In doing so, it helps build sustainable capacity in the heritage sector and encourages new perspectives on our shared past.
