Secondary education study results
Secondary schools assess study results for a Diplôme du baccalauréat général or a Diplôme du baccalauréat technologique as follows:

Most higher education institutions use the same system to assess study results as secondary schools; see Secondary education study results.
Secondary education documents
The following documents allow students to prove that they have completed upper secondary education:
- 1 of the following diplomas:
- Diplôme du baccalauréat général;
- Diplôme du baccalauréat technologique; and
- a transcript (relevé de notes).
Please note: students can also apply for an attestation de réussite (diploma extract) via the website of the French government (free of charge). You can check this online. That way, you know for sure that the student has obtained the baccalaureate.
Checking the attestation de réussite online
You can check the attestation de réussite online as follows:
- Go to the French government's website (in French).
- Under ‘Vérifier une attestation de diplôme’, click on ‘Accéder au service de vérification’.
- Then, insert the following information under ‘Vérifier une attestation de diplôme’:
- Enter the name of the student at ‘Nom du diplômé’.
- At ‘Clé de controle’, type the code mentioned at ‘Clé de controle’ on the attestation.
- Click on ‘Vérifier’.
- Does the website show the student’s attestation de réussite? That means the student has obtained the baccalauréat.
- Does the website show nothing or an error message?
- Ask the student to renew or reapply for the attestation de réussite via the website of the French government.
- Then try to check it online again.
Higher education documents
The following documents allow students to prove that they have completed a higher education programme:
- a diploma; and
- a transcript (relevé de notes) and sometimes a diploma supplement.
