Secondary vocational education in Aruba

Aruba's secondary vocational education is called Educacion Profesional Intermedio (EPI). The Colegio EPI offers this education.

Diploma Middelbaar Beroepsonderwijs

Students complete vocational programmes at Colegio EPI with a Diploma Middelbaar Beroepsonderwijs. There is one exception: the programme for an Associate of Science Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

  • : 3 or 4 years.
  • Content: students take a vocational programme at level 3 or 4. They choose from one of these subject clusters (units):
    • Cienca & Technologia, C&T (engineering and ICT);
    • Economia (business services);
    • Hospitalidad & Turismo, H&T (hospitality and tourism);
    • Salubridad & Servicio, S&S (healthcare) .
  • Language: the programmes are in Dutch, except H&T (which is in English).
  • Admission requirements: one of the following diplomas:
  • Function of the diploma: work. In some cases, graduates get access to higher professional education.
  • Diploma: Diploma Middelbaar Beroepsonderwijs (EPI) + level.

Associate of Science Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management

The Colegio EPI offers a vocational programme for an Associate of Science Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

  • :
  • Content: students take a vocational programme with subjects in hotel and restaurant management.
  • Language: the programme is in English.
  • Admission requirements: one of the following diplomas:
    • a Diploma Hoger Algemeen Voortgezet Onderwijs; or
    • a Diploma Middelbaar Beroepsonderwijs at level 4.
  • Function of the diploma: work (as a junior manager in the hospitality sector) or access to a bachelor’s programme in a similar field of study.
  • Diploma: Associate of Science Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
