Bridging a small step in learning and a giant leap in education: Using the Micro-Evaluator
As micro-credentials gain traction in European education and beyond, the recognition of certificates of such short learning experiences becomes a pertinent issue. As a response to this need, Nuffic launched an open, online tool to evaluate the quality of micro-credential certificates in 2022: the Micro-Evaluator.
As part of the Erasmus+ funded project Automatic Recognition in the European Education Area 2025 (AR25) activities on micro-credentials, a European-wide survey, a focus group and a virtual conference on micro-credential recognition was organized to gain an understanding of the current state of play when it comes to the recognition of micro-credentials.
This publication discusses the main outcomes of these activities, revealing current trends, gaps and possible solutions for the further enhancement of micro-credential recognition. It also includes recommendations for the update of the Micro-Evaluator tool, which will be implemented as part of the Erasmus+ funded project AR2030.
