From inspiration to connection: discover the COILectiVE NL Symposium
Collaborative Online International Learning and Virtual Exchange (COIL VE) offers many opportunities to gain international experience and develop intercultural competencies. But how do you put this into practice?
That’s what the COILectiVE NL Symposium is all about. Education professionals from vocational and higher education come together to exchange experiences, learn from one another and explore the role of COIL VE in Internationalisation at Home.
Three days of inspiration and exchange
From 25 to 27 November, education professionals will come together at The Hague University of Applied Sciences for three days of inspiration, exchange and in-depth learning. Whether you already have experience with COIL VE or are discovering it for the first time, there are plenty of opportunities to gain new ideas, share experiences and connect with other professionals. With more than 40 sessions, over 80 speakers and five different themes, there is plenty to choose from.
A few highlights from the programme:
Keynote by Dr Darla Deardorff
The symposium opens with a keynote by Dr Darla K. Deardorff, UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competence at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and researcher at Duke University (United States).
Drawing on her expertise in intercultural competence, she will bring an international perspective to the symposium. Her keynote will provide a valuable starting point for discussions on international and intercultural learning.
New to COIL VE? Get started here.
Would you like to get to know COIL VE, or are you wondering how to integrate it into your own teaching? Then the workshop Designing COIL VE with Internationalisation at Home in Mind is a great place to start. The workshop is specifically designed for participants with little or no previous experience with COIL VE. You’ll gain practical tools and insights to help you connect COIL VE to your own teaching practice.
You can also visit our stand with any questions about COIL VE. We’ll be happy to explore the possibilities for your teaching with you.
How is COIL VE developing in the Netherlands?
The symposium will also explore the development of COIL VE in the Netherlands. In the presentation Mapping the Dutch COIL VE Landscape: A National Snapshot, Leanne Jansen-Schreurs (NHL Stenden), Daan Maljers (ROC van Twente) and Marlie van Dun (Breda University of Applied Sciences) share their insights into how COIL VE is developing across the Netherlands.
The presentation offers a snapshot of current COIL VE practice in the Netherlands. It will give you a broader picture of what is happening in the field and an opportunity to reflect on how your own practice compares.
More than a programme
The symposium is about more than attending sessions. Meeting people and exchanging ideas are at the heart of the event: what works in practice? What challenges are others facing? And what can we learn from each other?
That is exactly what COILectiVE NL is about: sharing knowledge and experiences, supporting each other and working together to create a sustainable place for COIL VE in education.
