Nuffic manages Aon Scholarship for three more years
Every year, Aon makes six scholarships of six thousand euros available to talented and motivated students who come to study in the Netherlands. Starting with the EU as a focus region, the scholarship now has a global scope.
In the first three years, the themes of the scholarship program were 1) risk management, 2) Aon's CSR topics of climate, equality or well-being, and 3) intrinsic motivation. The latter meant students who, because of their personal situation, could not study at a Dutch educational institution without financial support. As of this year, the sustainable themes of climate, well-being and good governance are the starting point.
Czech Elin Maskova and Italian Beatrice Mercuri are two of the students who received scholarships. Elin (picture) is now studying at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, but used her scholarship to pursue a bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology at TU Eindhoven in 2023: “The knowledge gained at TU/e provided an ideal basis for this master in Mobility Engineering. In the coming years, I want to continue broadening and deepening my skills and expertise. After my master I want to continue with a PhD program where I hope to inspire and stimulate more women for the field of engineering. This scholarship gave me a flying start.”
Beatrice (picture) received a scholarship in 2021. She studied Commercial Economics at the Hanze University in Groningen. Her dream was to set up her own company, and thanks to the scholarship she has realized it: “With the financial contribution I have covered most of the start-up costs of my own company.” She is not only positive about the financial support: “I liked the fact that Aon also showed a real interest in me. It's obviously a big company, so I liked that colleagues came to the university for the award ceremony and offered all kinds of help, such as an internship.”
Currently, students from Japan, Russia, China, the U.S. and Australia are pursuing scholarships. This continued cooperation with Nuffic will allow another 18 students to receive scholarships over the next three years.
