From Study in Holland to Study in NL

Study in Holland has been informing international students and their parents already for many years about the study opportunities in the Netherlands. We will continue to do so, only with a new name!

Why change our name?

In January 2020, the Netherlands' new international positioning strategy came into effect, embracing the Netherlands as our official name, instead of the previously much used ‘Holland'. For Study in NL, the rebrand leads to an added value for initiatives we are doing together with our stakeholders representing the Netherlands as a knowledge country. We are now in line with the official country brand, creating a stronger overall profile for the Netherlands.

New URL: www.studyinnl.org

We have chosen www.studyinnl.org as our main student website. This is where current and prospective students find reliable and up-to-date information about studying in the Netherlands.

The URL shows NL, while the .org extension has more value than .nl when it comes to international targeting (related to performance and statistics). All our former URLs are still in place and redirect to the new one.

Impact & reach

Study in NL has a huge reach amongst students. Our Facebook page is followed by over 140k people, our Instagram account has 30.8k followers and is growing. Our website attracted 1,6 million visitors in the past year (28-08-2021 - 28-08-2022).

Students design a major part of our content. Our Student Ambassadors weekly take over our Instagram account. They also give their input when we design new tools and materials. They are the stars in our photos and videos.

We work evidence-based: our website is continuously being developed based on insights through user experience research, website statistics and search engine optimization .

New designs

With the new name, we also developed a new look and feel for Study in NL. As we have been telling the Study in NL story together with government and Dutch higher education institutions, we are also refreshing our corporate branding pages. This information is not intended for students directly, but here we provide you with an overview of the tools and materials that we have available for you.

We will update our corporate branding page on short notice, so keep an eye on the Study in NL corporate branding page.
