Secondary vocational education in Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka, secondary vocational education is part of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) is responsible for policy related to and the quality assurance of TVET.
TVET-levels
The TVET has 7 educational levels. See National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQ). After completing lower secondary education (grade 9), students can start the lowest TVET level, which is level 1.

MBO
Secondary vocational education (middelbaar beroepsonderwijs, MBO). MBO prepares pupils for the professional practice or further study. This type of education follows on from VMBO; its duration will depend on the chosen qualification. MBO comprises 4 levels (I-IV). Read more on the website of SBB.
