Grades and study results

Secondary schools use the following grades to assess study results:

With the following documents, students can prove that they have completed secondary education in Aruba:

• one of the following diplomas:
  • Diploma Educacion Profesional Basico;
  • Diploma Middelbaar Algemeen Voortgezet Onderwijs;
  • Diploma Hoger Algemeen Voortgezet Onderwijs; or
  • Diploma Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs; and
• a transcript.

The diploma and the transcript are in Dutch.

The University of Aruba (UA) and the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA) assess study results in the same way as secondary schools, see the table below.

Please note:

• At the UA, a 5.5 is sufficient. For some subjects, students receive a pass or a fail.
• The UA's Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies deviates from this and uses the US system to assess study results.

With the following documents, students can prove that they have completed a study programme in Aruban higher education:

• a diploma from either the UA or the IPA; and
• a transcript.
