About the NL Knowledge House

The NL Knowledge House is the home of Dutch knowledge abroad: where knowledge builds collaboration and collaboration builds knowledge. It co-creates knowledge on an institutional level with counterparts in the field of education and (applied) research with other societal stakeholders such as civil society and the private sector. The added value of the NL Knowledge House is the collaborative multidisciplinary approach between partners in the global South and North and strategic positioning of the knowledge sector.

Goals

The NL Knowledge House:

  • builds a bridge and platform through interactive linkage between the national political agendas and the needs of the knowledge sector;
  • identifies opportunities for collaboration, seeks for new contacts and guides institutions to promote knowledge sharing;
  • identifies opportunities for research and innovation;
  • connects national and international actors in education, (applied) research, civil society and the private sector, in alignment with the government;
  • offers an entry-point for institutions and individuals to establish themselves in the region.

Membership model

The NL Knowledge House has a membership model. Each member brings its own individual contribution. It is the combination of these members that allow for a strong network and position of the knowledge sector as a whole. Members have a stake in shaping and executing of the initiative. .

Members are requested to actively contribute to the agenda setting of the entity and to seek collaboration within the NL Knowledge House when relevant. They also participate to the network of the NL Knowledge House by sharing knowledge and contacts for the greater good of the sector.

Pilot: NL Knowledge House in Indonesia

2023 marked the start of the first pilot of a NL Knowledge House in Indonesia. Its current members are decisive in the set-up of the initiative, which will be evaluated at the end of 2023. The Dutch Ministry of Education is closely aligned to the initiative of the NL Knowledge House.

The current Dutch members of the NL Knowledge House in Indonesia are: The Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, Universities of The Netherlands, the Netherlands Research Council (NWO), KNAW, Groningen University, Aeres Group, Erasmus University, VU Amsterdam, NHL Stenden, Twente University, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, Wageningen University, Radboud University, Maastricht University and Nuffic.

About Nuffic

Nuffic creates opportunities for strong and sustainable partnerships between Dutch and foreign education institutions. As such, Nuffic holds the secretariat in Jakarta with support from its office in The Hague for the first NL Knowledge House pilot. It also supports knowledge institutions who wish to explore the initiative in a new location.
