  • Duration of schooling: 3 to 4 years.
  • Type of education: secondary vocational education.
  • Purpose of diploma: access to short cycle programmes in higher professional education - Diplom professional qualification of inzenir or tehnolog (visje strokovne skole - 2 years).

Splošna Matura (general Matura)

  • Dutch comparison: VWO diploma (NQF 4+/EQF 4).
  • Duration of schooling: 4 years.
  • Type of education: upper secondary general education.
  • Purpose of diploma: access to higher education.

Diplom with professional qualification of inzenir or tehnolog (visje strokovne skole - 2 years)

  • Dutch comparison: 2 years HBO or AD (NLQF 5/EQF 5).
  • Duration of schooling: 2 years.
  • Type of education: short cycle higher professional education.
  • Purpose of diploma: professional qualification.

Diploma prve stopnje (first cycle diploma)

  • Dutch comparison: HBO or WO bachelor’s degree (NLQF 6/EQF 6).
  • Duration of schooling: 3 to 4 years.
  • Type of education: professional or research oriented.
  • Purpose of diploma: access to further study of the second cycle in higher education - Diploma druge stopnje (second cycle diploma) - Magister/Master.

Diploma druge stopnje (second cycle diploma) - Magister/Master

  • Dutch comparison: HBO or WO master’s degree (NLQF 7/EQF 7).
  • Duration of schooling: 1 to 2 years.
  • Type of education: professional or research oriented.
  • Purpose of diploma: access to doctorate programmes.
