Diplôme de fin d'études secondaires classiques (before 2017: Diplôme de fin d’études secondaires)

  • Dutch comparison: VWO diploma (NLQF* 4+/EQF** 4).
  • Duration of schooling: 7 years.
  • Type of education: general secondary education.
  • Purpose of diploma: admission to higher education.

Diplôme de fin d’études secondaires générales (before 2017: Diplôme de fin d’études techniques)

  • Dutch comparison: VWO diploma (NLQF* 4+/EQF** 4) and MBO diploma, qualification level 3 or 4 (NLQF 3 or 4/EQF 3 or 4).
  • Duration of schooling: 7-8 years.
  • Type of education: general and vocational secondary education.
  • Purpose of diploma: admission to higher education.

Certificat de capacité professionnelle (CCP)

  • Dutch comparison: MBO diploma qualification level 2 (NLQF 2/EQF 2).
  • Duration of schooling: 6 years.
  • Type of education: vocational secondary education.
  • Purpose of diploma: admission to the labour market.

Diplôme d'aptitude professionelle (DAP)

  • Dutch comparison: MBO diploma qualification level 3 (NLQF 3/EQF 3).

  • Purpose of diploma: admission to the labour market.

Diplôme de technicien (DT)

  • Purpose of diploma: to independently practice a profession, and train students.

Bachelor

  • Duration of schooling: 3-4 years.
  • Type of education: professional or research oriented.
  • Purpose of diploma: admission to the labour market or a bachelor programme (possibly after a selection procedure).

Master
