First Orange Knowledge tailor-made training grants

The results of the first call for tailor-made trainings (TMTs) in the Orange Knowledge Programme have been published. 32 proposals were granted in this call, which closed in June 2018.

The TMTs will take place in 29 countries in Africa, Asia, South America and Europe. The gender division meets the required 50% the Orange Knowledge Programme aims for and the average awarded budget is € 70K per training.

In many cases, the TMTs are based on the train-the-trainer principle, training teachers and trainers to use their knowledge gained in teach their students. This means that these TMTs have a tremendous leverage as trainers reach many people with their trainings. In some cases, trainers from multiple municipalities are trained together through TMT, spreading their acquired knowledge indirectly to thousands of inhabitants.

Topics

The topics of these granted TMTs range from women’s rights trainings in Senegal through dance to value chain improvement of small scale fishery in Surinam and Sri Lanka. And from sustainable water management and climate adaptation in Pakistan to building a knowledge base of agri-tourism at the Caucasus University in Tbilisi and strengthening the capacity of a local Congolese NGO in implementing community-based socio-therapy in North Kivu.
