Indicators for Mapping and Profiling Internationalisation (IMPI)

From 2009-2012 Nuffic participated in a European project entitled Indicators for Mapping and Profiling Internationalisation (IMPI). The project was set up to create a Europe-wide toolkit that institutions could use to measure their internationalisation performance and relative improvement.

This project is closely related to Nuffic’s MINT tool. IMPI includes indicators already in use in MINT, but also added indicators from projects in other countries.

Europe-wide cooperation

Nuffic participated in the IMPI project with five European partners: CHE, CampusFrance, SIU, ACA and Perspektywy. In addtion, both national organisations and higher education institutions from countries all over Europe were participants in the project.

Involvement of higher education institutions

The project deliverables were tested by more than 30 individual higher education institutions, the DAAD and three networks (Coimbra Group and ACUP). The involvement of higher education institutions ensured that the tool has a practical application.

Two testing rounds of each three workshops took place to test the indicator list in different types of institutions, benchmark groups and countries.

Presentations on the project were presented over the years at gatherings such as the NAFSA and EAIE conferences.
