In 2002, the Agence pour l'Evaluation de la Qualité de l'Enseignement Supérieur (AEQES) was established for the purpose of quality assurance in higher education. Tasks of AEQES include:

  • developing procedures which institutions can use to assess the quality of the education;
  • monitoring and evaluating institutions;
  • providing information about the quality of the higher education by publishing best practices and evaluation reports.

Recognised higher education institutions

Only recognised higher education institutions are permitted to award recognised degrees. These can be both academic titles and professional qualifications.

The Fedération Wallonie-Bruxelles gives an overview of recognised institutions.
