Qualifications framework

Find out more about the Flemish qualification framework. A qualification framework contains the levels of most diplomas. What do these different levels mean?

The Flemish Qualifications Framework (FQF), Vlaamse nationale kwalificatieraamwerk (VKS), consists of 8 levels of qualifications.

  • Level 1: primary education.
  • Level 2: 4 years of secondary education.
  • Level 3: certificate obtained after 6 years of BSO.
  • Level 4: Diploma van Secundair Onderwijs.
  • Level 5: Diploma van Gegradueerde.
  • Level 6: Bachelor.
  • Level 7: Master.
  • Level 8: Doctor.
