This project has been developed by Mizan A-TVET-college. The tender for this project expired on 19 August 2011. Nuffic's Tender Evaluation Committee (TEC) awarded this tender to Van Hall Larenstein.

For this project Van Hall Larenstein has formed a consortium with the Aeres Group.

 

Project description

This project aims to contribute to better park management and wildlife conservation through delivery of better graduates (in terms of quantity and quality) in the field of Natural Resources Management (NRM) and wildlife conservation.

It will do so by helping Mizan A-TVET produce graduates with better skills and knowledge in the field of NRM to contribute to livelihood development for men and women.

The main course topics are:

  • Forest Development Techniques;
  • Forest Conservation and Protection Techniques;
  • Forest Utilization Techniques;
  • Wildlife Conservation and Management Techniques.

The courses will integrate a value chain approach to forest products, business and entrepreneurial skills and gender perspectives.

Finally, the project will assist Mizan A-TVET in developing its capacity with regard to:

  • leadership skills;
  • financial and educational management;
  • management structures and systems;
  • gender mainstreaming;
  • labour market linkages.
