Objectives and Outcomes

Below is a schematic overview of the objectives and outcomes of NICHE projects in Vietnam. This overview is based on Annex 2 of the Programme Outline.
Objectives
Strengthening Vietnamese training and education capacity in:
- Integrated Water Resources Management, Climate Change & Adaptation
- Agriculture
- Maritime Transport & Logistics
- Profession Oriented Higher Education
- Health
Present status
- There is a lack of technical knowledge in the selected areas.
- There is a lack of capacity to a higher number of students, including students in remote and disadvantaged areas.
- The training offered in selected subjects is too theoretical and not sufficiently linked to labour market requirements.
- Education and training institutes lack the expertise to translate labour market demands into education curricula.
Medium Term Outcome(s) – 4 years
- Education and training institutions are able to develop, teach and manage the improved education programmes in selected subjects.
- The selected institutions respond to (changing) labour market needs and demands in the planning and implementation of their education and training programmes.
- A replicable model of profession oriented higher education has been formally adapted.
- The selected institutions have upgraded their staff in the selected fields.
- The selected institutions have upgraded their technical knowledge in the selected fields.
Longer Term Outcome(s) – 8 years
Education and training programmes are market oriented, successfully attract students and deliver graduates with knowledge attitudes and skills that meet labour market demands in the selected disciplines.
