The NICHE identification process in Vietnam has resulted in the selection of four themes: Integrated Water Resource Management, Climate change and Agriculture; Maritime Transport and Logistics, Profession Oriented Higher Education (POHE), and Health. Integrated Water Resource Management, Climate Change and Agriculture
The Netherlands is a delta country similar to Vietnam. Therefore, the Dutch education sector has extensive knowledge in coastal zone management, dykes, urban planning, and dealing with the effects of climate change. In the agriculture sector, NICHE will focus on strengthening capacity in aquaculture, agro forestry, climate change and horticulture.
Maritime Transport and Logistics
In the maritime sector, NICHE will focus on ship building, port management, port operations, pre- and on-carriage logistics and maritime logistics in general.
Profession Oriented Higher Education
NICHE will explore the field of profession oriented higher education” (POHE) aiming to develop a methodology for higher education institutions to better connect curricula with labour market demands. This theme has been selected for the NICHE programme, based on the positive results that have been achieved through the NPT programme.
Health
In the health sector, NICHE will focus on:
- improving curricula in the management of institutions in the health sector;
- improving the accreditation system within the education institutions of the Ministry of Health, including accreditation of the curricula that have been developed under the NPT programme.
