Frequently Asked Questions

02 Dec 2011

Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) related to the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP).

If you have a question that is not answered below, please fill in the contact form at www.nuffic.nl/contact.

How can I apply for admission to a course, programme or PhD research?

You must apply for admission directly at the Dutch institution. Please contact the Dutch institution for information regarding admission. You cannot apply for admission through Nuffic or SOL.

Why is the course or programme I want to apply for not on the course list in SOL?

The course or programme probably falls under another deadline. SOL only shows the courses and programmes to which the nearest deadline applies.

Can I change the course (programme) or institution in my fellowship application and can I add information to my fellowship application?

You cannot make any changes or additions to your application once you have submitted it, not even if the fellowship deadline has not yet passed. Fellowship applications that are not complete when submitted will be cancelled and will not be considered. However, if the fellowship application deadline has not passed yet you can withdraw your application in SOL and submit a new application.

Can I change my profile details?

In your profile you can change your contact details (address) yourself. You are responsible for the correctness of these details. Your personal details (i.e. name, date of birth, place of birth et cetera) can only be changed by Nuffic. If you want to change your personal details fill in the online request form mentioning:

  • Name in your current profile
  • Your date of birth
  • Your email address
  • Your application number in SOL
  • The requested change: what do want us to change?

For verification purposes please attach a copy of your identity document.

Where can I upload the admission letter of the Dutch institution?

You don’t have to upload the admission letter from the Dutch institution when you apply for an NFP fellowship through SOL. The Dutch institution will inform Nuffic whether you have been unconditionally admitted.

Where can I upload the results of my English language test?

You don’t have to upload the results of your English language test in SOL. Your proficiency in English is assessed by the educational institution you applied for. If the institution requires you to send the results of an English language test you should send this document directly to the institution.

I cannot find my employer or contact person in the dropdown list in SOL. What do I do?

If your employer or contact person is not in the dropdown list you can add your employer or contact person in the free text field. The SOL user manual for applicants, available on our website, contains a detailed description on how to edit your employer information.

Did you receive my application in SOL?

When you submit your application in SOL, you automatically receive confirmation of receipt by email. Please note that your email provider may see this confirmation email as spam, so check if your junk or  spam folder contains an email sent by noreply@nuffic.nl. After you have submitted your application the status of your application will change into ‘submitted’. Please visit your SOL profile regularly to monitor the status of your application.

How do I receive information about the status of my application?

You can log on to your personal account in SOL to follow the status of your application. Moreover, SOL will inform you by email (for those who applied online). If you applied on paper you will receive a letter in case of any changes in the status of your application. We will confirm receipt of your paper application as soon as possible either by email or by regular post.

Can I apply for an NFP fellowship using a paper fellowship application form?

If you have very limited or no access to internet you may use a paper fellowship application form. The deadline for paper fellowship applications is 1 month before the fellowship application deadline for applications through SOL. You can download an application form from the Downloads page. Please do not use old applications forms as these will be removed from consideration. The application forms are not available at the Netherlands Embassies. Do not send your application to the Netherlands embassy but directly to Nuffic. You can find the correct address on the application form.

The current status of my application is 'saved'. Does this mean that I have successfully applied for an NFP fellowship?

No. It only means that you have filled in all the required information and have uploaded all the requested documents. However, you have not yet applied. To apply you have to submit your application. You have to submit your application before the application deadline. If your application still has the status 'saved' after the application deadline is closed your application will not be considered.

I am unable to submit my fellowship application before the fellowship application deadline. Can I submit it after the deadline?

No. You cannot submit your fellowship application after the deadline. SOL closes after the fellowship application deadline. The paper fellowship application deadline is one month before fellowship application deadline. Paper applications received after the paper fellowship application deadline will not be considered.

Did you receive my paper application?

Unfortunately, we are unable to confirm receipt of your paper application before we have processed it. We hope to inform you as soon as possible, in any case before the fellowship application deadline.

I applied on paper. Can I monitor my status in SOL?

Yes. After you have received a confirmation of receipt from us you can open a SOL account and monitor your application during the selection process. To open an account follow the instructions in chapter one and two of the SOL user manual for applicants. When you create the account please use the same email address you provided in your paper application form. You do not need to upload any documents. Once your SOL account has been activated you can start monitoring your application. Please contact us if your application is not visible in SOL.
