A candidate applying for the Holland Alumni conference must:
- be a national of one of the countries on the Holland Alumni conference country list valid at the time of application.

- have completed a study programme in the Netherlands in one of the seven areas of expertise as stated for the conference, no longer than four years ago.
- be a student or professional with a proven track of knowledge in the field of study.
- have completed a Holland Alumni conference application form.
- have previously attended a course or programme with a Dutch educational institution, in one of the seven fields of study, ended no later than September 2009.
- be available for the entire period of the conference and be physically and mentally able to take part in the entire conference.
