14.00 - 14.45 hrs  Opening of the Day of the International Student 2009 
  • Opening act Brass Band.
  • Official opening by the Director-General of Nuffic, Mr Sander van den Eijnden
  • Welcome by the Mayor of the city of The Hague, Mr Jozias van Aartsen
  • State Secretary of Justice, Ms Nebahat Albayrak
  • Stand-up comedy act by Mr Howard Beckham
15.00 - 17.30 hrs  Workshops, presentations and cultural activities

DIS Plaza

The DIS Plaza is the heart of the DIS. It is the place to find interesting information and meet other international students. There will be meeting points for students participating in various scholarship programmes. You can also meet representatives of a large number of alumni associations as well as representatives of various other interesting organizations.
 

Workshops, presentations and cultural activities

The programme for the DIS 2009 includes clog painting, ice-skating and traditional Dutch games, as well as a dance and percussion workshop and much more. There will also be more serious subjects on the programme, such as looking for a job in the Netherlands or a training ‘Dealing with the Dutch’. You will even have the opportunity to take a crash course Dutch.
