VSNU: Submit your bachelor’s research and win the Student Research Award
23 Apr 2010
On 14 and 15 October 2010 the Student Research Conference will be held. This is a new annual initiative of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU).
This development provides the first ever opportunity for bachelor’s students at Dutch and Flemish institutions, whether studying at research universities or universities of applied sciences, to showcase their research to a wide audience. English-speaking students are also welcome to join the showcase. The best and most relevant research will be rewarded with the Student Research Award, a prize worth €3,000. Students have until 1 May 2010 to submit their research.
The keynote speaker at the Student Research Conference 2010 will be Professor Wubbo Ockels, director Aerospace for Sustainable Engineering and Technology at TU Delft. He has expressed his pleasure with this VSNU initiative: ‘So much change and innovation is needed – it is great to see students contributing. It is their future, after all.’
Publication on the Quest website
The Student Research Conference showcases the bachelor’s research conducted by students to a wide audience. It challenges students to display the best of themselves. Accordingly, Quest will present on its website a gallery of all of the 60 selected submissions. In addition, Quest will be attending the Conference to devote special attention to this bachelor’s research.
Unique opportunity for students
As well as turning the spotlight on bachelor’s research, the Student Research Conference also offers a unique opportunity for students to show their fellow students and scientists the knowledge and skills they possess. Scientists nominated by all the VSNU universities to form the Scientific Programme Committee will select the winning bachelor’s research.
Registration
Students have until 1 May 2010 to submit the description of their research. This should be done through the VSNU website: www.vsnu.nl/SRC. Practical information concerning the submission of research will also be posted on the site. Note, for example, that the research need not be complete by 1 May 2010. Students not submitting a proposal are also warmly welcome to attend the conference. They can join the discussion about social issues and build their professional network.
