Return visa

A return visa is a sticker in your passport. This sticker will allow you to return to the Netherlands if you do not have a valid residence permit (yet).
Nationals belonging to the category ‘all other countries’ in the Student visa wizard may sometimes require a return visa.
Return visa needed in specific situations
A return visa is needed if:
- you do not yet have a Dutch residence permit AND
- your provisional residence permit is no longer valid on the date of your return or only allows a single entry AND
- you are a national belonging to a country that needs a Schengen visa to enter the Netherlands for a stay of less than 90 days. You can check whether this applies for your country using the student visa wizard.
