During your stay

27 Oct 2009

With a residence permit for the purpose of ‘highly educated migrant seeking employment’ you are not free to take up paid (or unpaid) employment.

Your employer will first have to apply for a work permit, which may not always be easy. One of the conditions that employers have to meet, is to demonstrate that there are no workers with an EU/EEA nationality available and capable to do the job.

Note that you are not allowed to apply for any state benefits during your stay. If you do, your residence permit may be revoked.
