Regulated professions
06 Dec 2011
Regulated professions may only be practised with the permission of the competent authority. Access is regulated by law.
There is a competent authority for each regulated profession. This authority determines whether you have access to the profession abroad. Examples of regulated professions include those of nurse or teacher.
Regulated professions differ strongly in terms of number and type per EU member state. The European Commission’s website provides an overview of regulated professions per country.
Please note that the overview of regulated professions may be incomplete. For this reason, always contact the National Contact Point for Professional Recognition (NCP) of the country in which you wish to base yourself.
The NCP concerned will be able to provide further assistance. View the contact details of all NCPs.
