Project description
With this project the University of Rafael Landívar aims to strengthen the higher education process at its Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, in order to address the justice administration system. It seeks the integral development of lecturers, to ensure that their professional performance is governed by values.
It also envisages the strengthening of criminal investigation and forensics. The Faculty of Law and Social Sciences aims to contribute to strengthening the justice system as a pillar of democracy, development and the rule of law. In the past, the Faculty initiated the implementation of a career on Criminal Investigation and Forensics, through an NPT project funded by Nuffic. That project allowed an approach to competency-based training on training-of-trainers perspectives and methodologies.
The justice system is essential for the good governance of any country. One of Guatemala's most fundamental weaknesses is precisely the administration of justice, characterised not only by faults and shortcomings in proceedings, but also by weaknesses of the processes of criminal investigation and evidence collection and input of the courts.
