Objectives

An effective TVET system that enhances the competitiveness of Rwanda’s economy and contributes to gender equality and poverty reduction.
 

Present status

  • private sector: 83% gap of technicians and 76% of professionals;
  • 96% gap of technicians and 55% gap of professionals in tourism;

Medium Term Outcome(s) – 4 years

  • The capacity to implement the national TVET policy has been measurably increased.
  • An agreed National Qualifications Framework and TVET quality standards are in place.
  • TVET teachers’ training is significantly strengthened.
  • The capacity to provide higher quality TVET in Tourism & Hospitality and Agriculture has been increased.
  • Women's access and participation has improved in all TVET programmes through specific policies and measures.
  • TVET is fully aligned with the needs and development of the labour market.

Longer Term Outcome(s) – 8 years

  • An increase in skills development, employability and job creation through improved TVET provision, in particular within the Tourism and Hospitality and Agriculture sector.
  • Gender equality is mainstreamed in TVET management, delivery, and labour market access.
