Objectives

  • The capacity of post-secondary education and training institutes on sanitation, in northern Ghana, to deliver quality, gender sensitive, education and training, or to do relevant research is strengthened.
  • The quality of education on management and quality control of sanitation has improved.

Benchmark of the present status

  • access to proper sanitation is estimated to be very low (around 30%);
  • lack of medical assistants focusing on sanitation issues e.g. hygiene and infections
  • management and quality control capacity in MoLG regarding sanitation issues insufficient;
  • inadequate presentation of research outcomes.

Medium Term outcomes (4 years)

  • The selected education and training institutes are able to develop, teach and manage the improved education programmes.
  • The curricula on management and quality control have improved.

Longer Term outcomes (8 years)

Sanitation training institutes have improved their professional standing and have become more attractive to new students, employers and/or research clients.
