Objectives

The supply of education and training in support of private sector development has increased and the quality of existing courses has improved.

Present status

  • The private sector and Government lack the understanding and expertise to stimulate private sector development.
  • The education and training on offer is too theoretical.
  • The supply and quality of technicians training is inadequate.
  • The local expertise to translate labour market demands into educational profiles is inadequate.
  • The local expertise to develop and introduce competency based training and to ensure quality assurance is inadequate.

Medium Term Outcome(s) – 4 years

  • The supply of labour market oriented education and training courses has increased.
  • The contents of the education and training programmes are competency based and geared towards acquiring knowledge and skills that can be applied in a working environment.

Longer Term Outcome(s) – 8 years

Training institutions have the capacity to develop and implement good quality education and training programmes that are:

  • market oriented;
  • successful in attracting students;
  • delivering graduates who easily find employment.
