Bangladesh joins NICHE

On 4 October 2010 Bangladesh officially joined the Netherlands Initiative for Capacity development in Higher Education (NICHE).
The signing of the Programme Outline in Dhaka marks the conclusion of the identification phase and the start of the implementation phase. Twenty-three countries have been selected to join the NICHE programme. Bangladesh is the fourteenth country to sign a Programme Outline.
Focus on water and governance
NICHE invests in priority sectors set by embassies and national authorities to contribute to the broadening of the cooperation agenda between the Netherlands and developing countries. In Bangladesh the identification process has resulted in the selection of two focus sectors: water and governance.
First tenders around the corner
The first subsidy tenders for NICHE projects in the water sector are expected to be published before the end of 2010.
