Work placements in the US

27 May 2010

The supply of work placement positions in the US appears to have picked up since the beginning of this year: a trend that is expected to continue.

Students who want to do a work placement in the US need a J1 visa, which they can apply for at the US consulate in Amsterdam. However, they first need a work placement permit (DS2019), which they can apply for through Nuffic.

The website www.wilweg.nl tells students all they need to know about obtaining a work placement permit. They can also apply for this permit through the website. However, students must find a work placement either themselves or through their study programme. Our website also provides tips and information on the practical aspects of work placements abroad.
