NICHE Seminar on gender mainstreaming

On 17 June Nuffic will be hosting a seminar about the integration of gender equality in Netherlands Initiative for Capacity Development in Higher Education (NICHE) projects. The meeting will take place in Utrecht.
For many organizations involved in implementing the NPT (Netherlands Programme for the Institutional Strengthening of Post-Secondary Education and Training Capacity) and/or NICHE, the integration of gender issues in projects is a difficult task.
Evidence of this includes the fact that it has proven impossible to achieve substantial changes in gender equality within most NPT projects. It is therefore essential to highlight this problem and to raise awareness of gender mainstreaming and the political will to achieve this.
The integration of gender equality must form part of NICHE projects in order to achieve sustainable positive change. Through this seminar Nuffic is offering potential Dutch administrators of NICHE projects the opportunity to increase their knowledge of, and involvement in, gender mainstreaming, placing them in a better position to carry out projects that promote gender equality.
