European funding to Dronten and Maastricht for cooperation with Canada

25 Aug 2009

Maastricht University (UM) and the CAH Dronten University of Applied Sciences (CAH) have each been granted €138,000 worth of funding by the European Commission.

The money comes from a cooperation programme between the EU and Canada aimed at higher education and higher professional education: the Transatlantic Exchange Partnerships programme (TEP). The Canadian government supports the projects with an equal sum of money. A total of eight projects have been selected this year, which makes this a very good score for the Netherlands!

The TEP programme funds partnerships between higher education institutions in the EU and in Canada who jointly develop international curricula and organize student exchanges, of which the acquired credits are also recognized by the home institution. The project can also cover staff exchange and international internships.

Projects at UM and CAH

The project at the UM is called Trans-Atlantic Neuroscience Teaching Network. The Canadian side of the partnership is led by the Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. The CAH runs a project called Sustaining Responsible Entrepreneurship: An International Experience, together with a Canadian consortium led by the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.
