EUVETA on the right track

15 Nov 2011

One year into this four-year NICHE project, the second phase of Elimu ya Ujasiriamali VETA (EUVETA) is now well underway. The core aim of the project is to introduce the Entrepreneurship Education and Training (EET) curriculum in 120 VET centres in all corners of Tanzania and train at least 360 instructors in teaching EET.

Making a difference

By doing so, the project wants to reach over 14,400 VET trainees over the next three years. So far, 218 instructors have been or are being trained. The EET Training-of-Trainers is done in three sessions.

Master Trainers

The ToTs are conducted by EET Master Trainers. They are experienced instructors from the regions and tutors from Morogoro Vocational Teachers Training College (MVTTC), who have attended a Master Trainer course. The Master Trainers are assisted and coached by Triodos Facet trainers.

First batch delivered

The first batch of 74 instructors from 24 VET centres in the South Eastern Zone (Mtwara), the Western Zone (Tabora) and the Lake Zone (Mwanza) was trained in December 2010 and January 2011.

These instructors are now teaching Module I to level 1 trainees in their centres. The centres have received training manuals, business games, and a computer. In January 2012 this batch will attend the ToT on Module 2, for level 2 trainees.

Second batch

A second batch started in June this year, with 144 teachers from 48 VET centres in the remaining six zones, who attended the first ToT in EET.  In November, they will attend their second ToT. From January 2012, these instructors will start teaching EET Module 1 at their centres.
