SOL passes first NFP application round
08 Mar 2011
As we proudly announced in our previous newsletter, Scholarships Online (SOL) went live, as scheduled, on 1 November 2010 for the important 1 February deadline for NFP scholarships for master’s degree programmes, short courses and PhD studies.
As usual, the first applications slowly trickled through, but by mid January the number of submitted applications quickly picked up.
5,000 applications submitted
When we closed SOL on 1 February, more than 5,000 applications had been submitted online. This was about the number of applications we had expected to receive, so we were quite pleased with this first result.
Time for a first appraisal
This first online application round has given us a good picture of the promises and pitfalls of SOL and its user-friendliness. So while the Dutch institutions and embassies are busy assessing the applications that have been submitted we are working on the lessons learned from this application round.
Next round, please
Meanwhile, we have reopened SOL for the 1 May deadline for the master's degree programmes and short courses and the first applications have already been submitted. In order to ensure a smooth application round the SOL user manual and the Frequently Asked Questions section on our website have been revised, based on the feedback received.
Deadline moved forward
Please note that the actual deadline of this round has been moved forward by a few days due to public holidays and limited technical support. The new deadline is 29 April 2011 at 4pm CET.
