In this article we give you a brief overview of the outputs in 2010 of the capacity building programmes managed by Nuffic.
NFP tailor-made trainings and multi-year projects
In 2010 we received 11 new outlines which resulted in six grants. 25 tailor-made trainings were held, 23 of which for multi-year partners:
- 7 trainings in Sub-Saharan Africa;
- 3 trainings in Egypt;
- 10 trainings in Asia;
- 5 trainings in Latin America;
As for the training providers, the international education institutes were best represented with a 40% share.
Despite the phasing out of the tailor-made training modality 12 new grants, with a total value of almost €1.3 million, were issued in 2010, with 8 grants going to the following international education institutes:
- MSM (6 grants)
- ITC (2 grants)
The above grants provided direct support to over 240 people in six countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. All new grants were awarded to established multi-year agreement partners.
Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP)
In 2010 Nuffic awarded a total of 2,275 fellowships, against a target of 2,243 fellowships:
- master's degree programmes (853 fellowships)
- short courses (1,329 fellowships)
- PhD studies (65 fellowships)
- Refresher courses (28 fellowships)
NICHE
In 2010 NICHE achieved the following results:
- 7 working agreements with EKNs were signed.
- 10 programme outlines were signed.
- 24 sectoral plans were signed.
- 33 identification and articulation missions took place.
- 52 subsidy tenders were granted for:
- 4 small projects with a budget less than 50,000 euro;
- 48 large-scale projects with a budget of more than 200,000 euro. - 25 capacity evaluations of requesting organisations were assessed.
- 50 project outlines were published.
- 1 regional consultants meeting was conducted.
- 1 donor harmonisation seminar took place.
- 4 NFP-NPT-NICHE e-Newsletters were published.
- 4 regional financial workshops and one train-the-trainers workshop were held.
