Successful NICHE identification mission to Egypt
15 Mar 2010
Between 28 February and 5 March 2010, the second NICHE identification mission to Egypt was carried out by NICHE portfolio holder for Egypt, Annemarie de Ruiter and Beer Schröder, Head of Nuffic’s Capacity Building Programmes Department.
Working agreement and draft documents signed
During their visit Annemarie and Beer held meetings with the Dutch Embassy, ministries, educational institutions and other key stakeholders, including business representatives. One of the results of the mission was a working agreement between the Embassy and Nuffic, signed by Yvette van Eechoud, the Embassy’s Head of Economic and Trade Affairs and Development Cooperation Sections and Beer Schröder. In addition, draft versions of the Programme Outline and the Plans of Implementation for Egypt were finalized.
Well impressed
As in identification missions to other NICHE countries, Nuffic was very impressed by the support and commitment of the Embassy staff and the Egyptian counterparts. As things stand now, NICHE promises to become a valuable and much appreciated technical assistance instrument in Egypt. We expect the formalization of the official documents to be completed shortly, followed by the publication of the first NICHE tenders on our website.

More information
Once the Programme Outline has been officially signed, it will be made available for download on the Programme Outlines section of the NICHE website. The first NICHE tenders in Egypt will also soon appear in our project pipeline at www.nuffic.nl/pipeline.
