SOL well on track

18 Jun 2010

In our previous newsletter we introduced you to the Scholarships Online (SOL) project, which will enable NFP fellowship applicants to apply online. We have a look behind the scenes at the preparations for this new application system that will be launched on 1 November 2010.

Different user access levels

The Dutch institutions, the embassies and consulates, and the students each have a different role in the NFP application and selection procedure so each party will need separate facilities in SOL. Therefore, SOL will have different access levels.

Embassy area

A large part of SOL has now been finished. In recent months, the focus has shifted to the area dedicated to embassies and consulates.

In January 2010, a test panel of Embassy Fellowship Officers assessed SOL’s facilities for embassies. The officers were asked to comment on aspects such as usability and colour combinations. Their input has been used to improve, among other things, the lay-out of the screens.

Soon, the test panel will be invited again to actually test the functionality of SOL’s embassy area in order to further improve the application system.

This summer the focus in the project will be on the facilities for Dutch institutions and students and on the administration facilities for Nuffic's NFP team.

Headstart

Nuffic has also started preparations to ensure that Dutch institutions and embassies and consulates will be well prepared when they are asked to start using Scholarships Online. They will be immediately informed when these preparations are complete.

Official launch

On 1 November 2010 SOL will open for NFP fellowship applications for courses and programmes that start from mid August 2011. The application deadline for these courses is 1 February 2011.

Last traditional application round

The last deadline through which NFP applicants can submit their applications through the Netherlands Embassy 1 October 2010. These applications will be processed according to the current application and selection procedure.

We will soon update our website with the latest information, including an overview of the NFP Course List 2011-2012 and the application deadlines.

Great idea of SOL. could you allow applicants to apply for more than one programme/universities?

This is a good move especially for us no-European countries as it will help us to reduce costs and hussles involved wth the paper work and it will reduce time in applying for the scholarships. I look fprward to use this new facility.

Great work. I am looking forward to use SOL.
My previous paperwork application used not to meet deadlines due to processes involved. This is extremely fair play for applicants.
