Holland Alumni network goes live

On Thursday 29 April Nuffic launched the brand new website of the Holland Alumni network. This website is a portal for all international students who have studied in Holland. It contains information for international alumni and a database in which alumni can manage their details and get in touch with each other.
Through the Holland Alumni network (HAn) Nuffic wishes to support the international alumni network of Dutch higher education institutions and the Holland Alumni associations abroad. A strong worldwide Holland Alumni network contributes to capacity development in developing countries and the promotion of Dutch higher education abroad.
Renewed NFP to include special alumni sub-programme
The renewed NFP which will come into effect in November 2010 will contain a separate sub-programme focused on alumni activities. There will be funds for refresher courses, start-up grants for Netherlands Alumni Associations (NAAs) and co-financing grants for activities organized by NAAs.

Target groups
First of all, the network is aimed at alumni, but it also offers special features for Holland Alumni associations and alumni officers of higher education institutions. They can use the network to announce alumni events, download publications about international alumni policies and use the database to inform their ‘own’ alumni about events or to exchange experience.
Co-creation
After launching the first version of the website in November 2009, during the Holland Alumni conference, the various target groups of the network have tested the new site and given their feedback.
And the result is good: an informative website with a typically ‘Dutch’ character where Holland Alumni can connect with their Dutch alma mater, with alumni associations in their country of origin and with alumni networks that are scholarship or study related.
Future activities
In the next few months Nuffic will develop and execute a variety of marketing initiatives to put the network on the radar of (future) Holland Alumni.
In addition, special training is being planned in November for international alumni officers of higher education institutions and staff of Nuffic Neso offices. Finally, preparations are well under way for the second Holland Alumni conference, to be held in the spring of 2011.
