The Nuffic Blog is primarily maintained by staff members of the Department of Studies and Platforms of the Knowledge and Innovation Directorate at Nuffic. We will also regularly post articles by other Nuffic staff members and by external contributors.
The nine main Nuffic contributors are:
- Rosa Becker has been at Nuffic since March 2010. Prior to her position as a senior policy officer at Nuffic she worked as a senior researcher at the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education in London. Before this, Rosa had a research position at the Institute of Education, University of London in the UK, where she also earned a PhD in comparative higher education Her expertise is in transnational higher education, the emergence of global market forces and contemporary trends in international higher education. - Ad Boeren is a longstanding staff member of Nuffic. He has developed broad experience in the field of development cooperation and capacity building in higher education. He has published several articles and books on issues such as aid effectiveness and capacity building and has been involved in many evaluation projects in this area. - Marianne Cox has long been part of the Nuffic staff but joined its Knowledge and Innovation Directorate in July 2010. She served for a long time as a credential evaluator and consultant for our International Recognition Department. Her expertise lies in topics related to international accreditation, international rankings and league tables and the role of teachers in internationalization. Read all posts by Marianne Cox
- Adinda van Gaalen is a senior policy officer at Nuffic where she has been working since 2007, specializing in quality issues surrounding the internationalization of higher education. She is the project leader of the Nuffic MINT project (Mapping Internationalization) which offers a quality assurance and benchmarking tool for internationalization activities in higher education institutions. Before joining Nuffic she was a policy advisor and head of the international office at the HES School of Economics and Business in Amsterdam. - Mtinkheni Gondwe joined Nuffic in 2009 and specializes in higher education in developing countries. Mtinkheni has a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Groningen and an MSc in the same field from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa). Since joining Nuffic she has focused on the role of professional and vocational education for development and the opportunities for universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands to be involved in capacity building and development cooperation. - Hendrik Jan Hobbes has been a policy officer at Nuffic since 2008 and specializes in Dutch policies and legislation in an international context. Here his particular focus is on legal and policy aspects of joint degrees and other opportunities for international partnerships. Before working at Nuffic, Hendrik Jan used to work at the International Office of Leiden University, where he was responsible for the Erasmus Mundus programme and for institution-wide collaboration agreements. - Jenneke Lokhoff has been a policy officer at Nuffic since 2008. She manages projects in the field of international recognition of qualifications, including the CoRe2 project and the recently started ERA (European Recognition Area) project. She has also been involved in studies on the recognition of prior learning and studies related to learning outcomes. Before joining Nuffic, Jenneke worked at the European Commission, DG Research. She holds an MA in History (University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and an MA in International Relations and European Studies (Central European University, Budapest). - Eric Richters is specialized in mobility statistics and the measurement of internationalization. He has been a contributor to and editor of the Internationalization Monitor of the Netherlands, which has been published annually since 2007 and is commissioned by the Ministry of Education. He is also project leader of a new annual Nuffic publication on international mobility in the Netherlands ‘Mobiliteit in Beeld’ (Mapping Mobility). - Sjoerd Roodenburg focuses on issues related to the Bologna process, the European higher education and research area and European programmes. He also coordinates the expertise on Europe and Bologna within Nuffic. Sjoerd joined Nuffic in 2009. Before this he worked as a policy researcher at a private research institute and as a policy advisor for COLO, the association of Dutch centres of expertise on vocational education, training and the labour market.
