Country Monitor

11 Feb 2011

The Nuffic International Education Monitor will track (international) higher education developments in 47 countries.

For each of the selected countries we will provide:

  • a short introduction to the higher education system, the degrees awarded and the system of quality assurance and accreditation;
  • relevant links;
  • relevant policy documents and research reports;
  • an overview of recent news items about this country, selected from news sources around the world;
  • a selection of Nuffic Blog posts covering the country in question.

The selection of countries is partly based on Nuffic’s priority countries and partly on an identification of important and interesting players on the international higher education market.

Priority countries, as defined by Nuffic, are the ten countries where a Nuffic Neso office or Neso Desk has been established (Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam) on the one hand, and the 23 developing countries where the Netherlands Initiative for Capacity development in Higher Education (NICHE) is active on the other. The remaining 15 countries were selected because they are (increasingly) important exporters or importers of higher education.
