'To me this conference marks a new beginning in research policy for development. Together we can find ways to really integrate the Northern and Southern perspective, to strengthen each other’s research agendas mutually in order to come to more effective development strategies', Minister Koenders said during the final session of the three-day conference. The full outcome of the conference will be published on this website at the end of this year.
North-South divide is over and a ‘Global South’ with new global partnerships is the new reality. New ownership relations need to be found. A new approach to capacity strengthening is required. These are just a few of the conclusions drawn during the conference Knowledge on the Move. The theme Research for development in a globalising world was investigated from different perspectives by national and international scientists, practitioners and policy makers.
The following three crosscutting issues formed the basis for discussion:
- Research Arenas: International Research Partnerships
- Research Practices: Embedding Research in Society
- Research Capacities: Capacity Building for Relevant Research
