NANC Annual General Event

The Netherlands Alumni Network in China (NANC) Annual General Event (AGE) has been initiated as a review of alumni events and activities organized throughout the year.
The purpose of these events was to get all alumni together to recall the cheerful memorable times they have had in the past, and to make them more aware of their role as ‘image ambassadors’ in their profession fields.
The second NANC AGE, held in Beijing on 13 December 2008 was a big success. The highlight of the event was the Alumni of the Year Awards, sponsored by Nuffic, Neso China and business partners.
Participation
More than 180 people attended the event. Participants included members of NANC - which has seen the addition of many new members among recently-returned alumni - CSCSE colleagues, NANC business partners, sponsors, prospective students with their parents and Dutch students studying in China.
Mr Jacques van Vliet welcomed the participants and presented an overview of current Neso China projects. Dutch Ambassador Mr Rudolf Bekink gave an award speech and presented the prizes to the winning nominees.
Over 100 people took part in the competition; the final six alumni bearing lucky numbers on their name badges were asked to answer questions on Dutch and Chinese culture prepared by the sponsors. Memorable presents were given as encouragement.
Prizes awarded
- The first place ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’ was presented to two alumni, who received two stand-by Beijing-Amsterdam return tickets (sponsored by KLM).
- The second place ‘Outstanding Young Alumni Award’ was presented to three alumni, who received a Canon camera set with printer (sponsored by Neso China).
- The third place ‘Alumni Service Award’ was presented to two alumni, who received an MP5 (sponsored by Neso China).
A Dutch journalist from de Telegraaf newspaper (for the Stan Huygens Journal) and two representatives from CIEIN (China International Education Information Net) interviewed several alumni and the winning nominees.
