The Hybrid Auto Rickshaw Battle

Enviu, a leading Dutch sustainability company, in combination with its Indian counterpart is organizing the Hybrid Auto Rickshaw Battle 2009 for the first time in India, from 22 to 25 July at SRM University in Chennai.
Seven University teams from India and the Netherlands are participating in this competition to showcase their creativity and win a prize of Euro 10,000. The universities participating from the Netherlands are TU Delft, Groningen, Han University of applied sciences, and TU Eindhoven.
The aim of this battle is to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 40% and lower the fuel consumption with 30 to 50% while at the same time improving the economic and social positions of the auto rickshaw drivers and their families. Enviu Foundation in the Netherlands will setup a company in India that will bring the best upgrade kit to the market.
Tuktuk
The Hybrid Tuktuk Battle will be finalized with a final event on Chennai from 22 to 25 July. During all these events, the aim is to involve many Dutch and Indian students and professors, representatives of automotive companies, rickshaw drivers and many more related individuals and organizations. We expect media coverage by local, national and international press.
It will all take place on the campus of one of the participating universities: SRM University in Chennai. The prize ceremony on the 25th of July will be combined with a seminar on the various subjects that are part of the project. This includes innovation in the automotive industry, cooperation between the Netherlands and India, the power of young entrepreneurial people and social entrepreneurship.
On July 22, the Nuffic Neso Desk India, Chennai is also organizing a seminar on Indo- Dutch partnership in the areas of research and education, at the Anna University, Chennai.
