Russian university seeking Dutch partners in IT
Kazan Federal University is looking for foreign partners in IT and is offering them a US$ 1 million grant through a competition. Dutch higher education institutions are invited to join.
The main purpose of the grant is to conduct research and to give lectures in the field of information technology.
Kazan wants to open new areas of research, develop its network of international contacts and increase cooperation with foreign universities and research groups. The university hopes that this grant will help towards those goals.
Booming city
The grant competition is organised by the Higher School of Information Technologies and Information Systems (ITIS), an institute that is part of the Kazan Federal University. In Russia there are eight higher education institutions with the special title ‘Federal’. Federal universities receive extra funding from the Russian government and are focused on the development of the Russian regions.
The Nuffic Neso Russia office makes annual visits to Kazan and actively participates in seminars to promote the Netherlands and institutional cooperation there. Kazan is a booming city and one of the largest industrial and financial centers of Russia. It also has the largest IT Science park in Russia.
