Russia seminar: Kysia Hekster leads talk show with Russians
Russian students and alumni will be special guests in a forum discussion hosted by Kysia Hekster at the Russia seminar in the Hermitage Amsterdam.
Kysia Hekster, former correspondent in Russia for the Dutch NOS news and former chair of the LSVB (Dutch National Students’ Union), will interview the special Russian guests during one of the seminar’s four workshops. During the session ‘Russians Today Talk Show’, Russian students and alumni currently in the Netherlands will explain why they chose to study in Holland and what Dutch higher education institutions can learn from their experiences.
In addition, there will be an introduction from Anna Agaltsova, who worked as a student counsellor and market researcher at the Nuffic Neso Russia office in Moscow. She will present the results of a student survey among more than 1,000 students in a presentation titled ‘What do Russian students want?’
During the workshop session representatives of Dutch institutions are invited to take part in the debate and also ask the Russians questions.
The central theme of the seminar on higher education and institutional cooperation is ‘How to cooperate successfully in Russia’. Details of the full seminar programme, its four workshops and all its speakers are published on the Nuffic website. Unfortunately, registration has now closed.
Scientific research
The VSNU will present a workshop called ‘Scientific research with Russia. What are the possibilities and how to find finances for academic cooperation’. Successful examples of scientific research in cooperation with the Russian Federation will be introduced.
Professors in physics, electric conduction, and land use planning and landscape ecology, will talk about their Dutch-Russian projects. These include Russian scientists working for Groningen University who will talk about their joint projects and give an introduction on the current Russian scientific and political context. A Professor from Wageningen University will also share the lessons learnt from his fifteen years’ experience in scientific cooperation with Russia.
Topics of the other workshops are
- Best practices on institutional cooperation with Russia: how to start, how to expand your relationship, how to make it a success.
- Living Lab Energy Russia; which lessons can be drawn from this new instrument to profile Dutch universities of applied sciences in the Neso countries? First experiences from the Russia initiative will be shared.
