Registration Russia seminar open
The registration for the special Russia seminar on higher education and institutional cooperation is now open. The seminar will be held in the Hermitage Amsterdam on Tuesday 19 March 2013.
The seminar’s central theme is: ‘How to cooperate successfully in Russia’. It is part of the official Netherlands-Russia year in 2013. Dutch higher education institutions – international offices, policy makers and marketeers – are invited to join.
In addition to the plenary part the seminar offers workshops where experiences and best practices will be shared. The seminar starts at 09:00 hrs and ends at 13:30 hrs with a network lunch. After the lunch there is time to visit the special Russia exhibition in the Hermitage Amsterdam.
Speakers
Kysia Hekster, former correspondent in Russia for the Dutch NOS news, will present the day. Speakers include:
- Irina Dezhina, a leading specialist in the Russian science and higher education system. She works as a professor at the Russian Academy of National Economy, Stanford class, and is head of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SkTech).
- Peter Sloot, professor of computational sciences and complex systems (UvA), NTU (Singapore) and St Petersburg State University, Russia. He was awarded with the Leading Scientist Grant by the Russian government.
Topics of the workshops are:
- Best practices on institutional cooperation with Russia: how to start, how to expand your relationship, how to make it a success.
- Russian students and alumni in the Netherlands: why did they choose the Netherlands and what can Dutch institutions learn from their experiences?
- Living Lab Energy Russia; which lessons can be drawn from this new instrument to profile Dutch universities of applied sciences in the Neso countries? First experiences from the Russia initiative will be shared.
VSNU workshop
The VSNU will also give a workshop on current opportunities for scientific research in Russia: how did researchers find the right counterparts and how did they get the necessary funding?

Please note there is space for a maximum of 100 participants. Participation is free of charge. You can sign up for the workshops at the start of the seminar (09:00).
