The first promotional events of the PromoDoc project will take place over the coming months, reaching out to hundreds of potential doctorate candidates.

PromoDoc focuses on the promotion of European higher education at the doctoral level, especially in the targeted industrialised countries and territories of Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and the US. These are also the regions where the first events will take place.

Singapore: ‘Think doctorate, Think Europe’ seminar

Potential doctorate candidates are invited to join the ‘Think doctorate, Think Europe’ seminar that takes place in Singapore on Saturday 15 September 2012 in the Hilton Hotel Singapore. The seminar is free of charge and gives attendees information about the opportunities of doing a doctorate in one of the 27 EU member states, as well as a chance to get in contact with EU doctorate alumni.

On the same day, there is a Study in Europe fair in Singapore, with a special PromoDoc booth for information about doctorates in the EU. This fair is organised by the EU Delegation in Singapore and offers specific information on higher education in 15 of the EU member states. There will also be a Study in Holland booth at the fair, with representatives of the Netherlands Embassy in Singapore and Nuffic.

Canada and US: launch of Ambassador Network

October will see the launch of the Ambassador Network in North America, an information network consisting of 25 ambassadors (former doctorate candidates). These ambassadors will advise prospective US and Canadian students on living in Europe and selecting and applying for doctoral studies in the EU. The network will run for 13 months.

Japan: Targeted appointments

From 21 – 24 November, a series of targeted appointments will be set up between European higher education institutions and research institutes and potential doctorate candidates in Tokyo and Kyoto, in Japan.

There will be student information sessions in the morning and scheduled appointments between candidates and representatives from the education institutions and research institutes in the afternoon.

You can still register for participation in Japan until 7 September 2012 (extended deadline). The participation fee for the four-day seminar is € 500.
